Meet the Designer: Stacey Lyon of Beach Nest Interiors

Posted by Serena Bethle on

Introducing the lovely and talented Stacey Lyon, owner of Beach Nest Interiors. A longtime friend and Pro Club member of Floor Authority in Myrtle Beach, Stacey is a trusted name in the local design community. If you’re a Myrtle Beach homeowner searching for an interior designer, look no further—you’ve found her. Stacey specializes in kitchen and bathroom remodels, investment property renovations, furnishings, and custom builds, bringing both style and function to every space she designs. What truly sets her apart from other designers is that she approaches each project as if it were her own. If she wouldn’t do it in her home, she wouldn’t do it in yours.

Stacey’s journey into interior design began in a non-traditional way. After graduating college with a degree in psychology, she never expected her career path to lead her into the design world. However, that background laid the groundwork for her ability to understand how people interact with their environments. Following graduation, Stacey took on several roles within the plumbing industry as a sales and marketing specialist, working closely with hospitality and multifamily projects. Through this experience, she learned the ins and outs of designing custom faucets—an opportunity that sharpened her eye for detail and sparked the passion that would eventually grow into Beach Nest Interiors.

You may be asking yourself—so what does Stacey’s design process actually look like? It all begins with her number one focus: the psychology of design. Stacey starts every project by understanding how her clients truly live in their space. How do you function day to day? Which rooms are used the most? How often do you entertain? Are you a coffee drinker or a wine enthusiast? These thoughtful questions help determine what elements are essential versus what’s simply a want, ensuring each design works within the space’s limitations. This foundational approach creates the structure for everything that follows. Even better, Stacey seamlessly balances aesthetics with functionality—so clients never have to sacrifice one for the other.

And of course, we can’t skip over the flooring. Stacey views flooring as the leading lady of great design—the main character that immediately draws the eye when you enter a room. Flooring offers an opportunity to get creative through materials, patterns, and layouts, even though it’s often overlooked or considered “boring.” In reality, it’s one of the most impactful elements in creating a stylish and stunning home. Stacey often uses tile as a statement piece by incorporating a tile “rug” in an entryway, extending large-format tile from floor to ceiling around a fireplace feature, or installing tile on a full wall behind backlit mirrors in a primary bathroom.

While all the choices can feel overwhelming at first, Stacey makes the process refreshingly simple. She thoughtfully narrows selections down to three curated options, allowing clients to view each choice within their actual space and understand the reasoning behind each recommendation. This approach turns what could be a stressful decision into a quick, confident, and painless part of the design journey.

One of the biggest compliments Stacey gives us is her continued trust in Floor Authority as her go-to flooring supplier. She consistently relies on our showroom—not only as a resource for her projects, but as an extension of her creative process. What keeps her coming back, in her own words, is “how helpful, knowledgeable, and responsive your team is,” a partnership we’re truly proud of.

For Stacey, our showroom serves as a constant source of inspiration, filled with the latest materials and design-forward selections. She often refers to it as her own personal design library—a place where ideas take shape and possibilities come to life. With our ever-growing inventory and continuous intake of new products, Stacey can always find something that aligns perfectly with every style, project, and client vision.

To give us even more insight into her design philosophy, we asked Stacey a few questions about the trends and materials inspiring her most right now—and what she sees coming next.

What trends do you see gaining momentum in the next year?
Stacey is seeing a strong shift toward 3D dimensional tiles featuring patterns, waves, and ridges, along with large-format tiles that create a seamless look with minimal grout lines. She also notes a growing love for warm neutrals—think beiges, browns, and terra-cotta tones—with a handcrafted, organic feel that brings depth and authenticity to a space.

How do you incorporate texture, pattern, and color into flooring choices?
“I love mixing wood-look tile with large-format neutral squares to create a striking pattern in an entryway,” Stacey shares. She also favors textured wall tile over vanities and behind mirrors as a stylish alternative to the wallpaper trend. For primary showers, she often uses a color-drenched approach, layering various tile sizes within the same color palette to achieve an upscale, elegant finish.

Do you have a favorite tile, flooring style, or material right now?
At the moment, Stacey is especially drawn to Mexican Saltillo–inspired terra-cotta tiles, particularly when used as a kitchen backsplash to add warmth, character, and timeless appeal.

What’s one design detail that always elevates a space?
“For me, it’s wood,” Stacey says. Whether it’s a beautifully executed herringbone floor, a wood-paneled feature wall, or a one-of-a-kind wraparound mantel, wood instantly adds warmth and a sense of home to any space.

Stacey Lyon’s thoughtful approach to design, paired with her ability to balance beauty and functionality, is what truly sets Beach Nest Interiors apart. Her passion for creating spaces that feel personal, intentional, and lived-in aligns perfectly with our values at Floor Authority. We’re proud to be a trusted resource and creative partner in her process and to support her with the materials and inspiration that help bring her visions to life. If you’re looking to transform your home or investment property into a space that feels both elevated and authentically yours, Stacey is a designer worth knowing—and one we’re honored to work alongside.
